Hallo aus Rio! Mit ihren 6 Mio. Einwohnern ist diese Stadt vollgepackt. Wir haben hier tolle Aufnahme bei einem mit Missionaren befreundeten Ehepaar gefunden. Und von hier aus haben wir verschiedene Exkursionen unternommen.

Hi from Rio! With its 6 million inhabitants this city is packed. We were welcomed by a wonderful couple who are friends with missionaries we met here, and from their house we have undertaken our excursions.

Unser erstes Ziel war der Corcovado mit der berühmten Christusfigur. In Deutschland hatten wir den Eindruck dort hinauf zu fahren und für Rio sowie Brasilien zu beten. Naja, wir haben uns wettermäßig nicht den besten Tag ausgesucht. Es war eiskalt und hat geschüttet. Am Ende waren wir klatschnass. Andererseits hat uns das Wetter wirklich gedient. Es hat nämlich verhindert, dass Touristenhorden auf den Corcovado pilgern. So waren nur ganz wenige dort oben und wir konnten in Ruhe beten.

Our first stop was the Corcovado with the famous Christ monument. When we prayed in Germany we had the impression to go up there and pray for Rio and Brazil. Well, the weather was horrible. It was icecold and it rained cats and dogs. At the end of the day we were soaking wet. Anyway, the weather hold the many tourists away who ususally go to the Corcovado. Thus only a few ones were up there and we could do what we wanted to do.

Am Freitag und Samstag haben wir an zwei Evangelisationsveranstaltungen mit Reinhard Bonnke & Team teilgenommen. Der erste Abend war ein Jugendgottesdienst in der Citybank Hall, zu dem ca. 3.000 junge (und ältere) Leute kamen. Brasilianische Anbetung ist schon sehr anders als unsere deutsche. Wir haben es auf jeden Fall genossen.

On Friday and Saturday we visited two crusades with Reinhard Bonnke & team. The first night was a youth service at the Citybank Hall, which was attended by appro. 3,000 young (and older) people. Brazilian worship differs a lot from the German way. We enjoyed it anyway.


Evangelisation am Strand / The cursade at the beach

Am zweiten Abend fand die Veranstaltung am Strand von Botafogo statt. Dort waren ca. 5.000 Leute. Reinhard Bonnke hat das Evangelium gepredigt und viele haben sich an diesem Abend zu Jesus bekehrt. Unter anderem ein junger Mann, der sich ständig in unserer Nähe aufhielt. Er wirkte etwas komisch, aber wir realisierten sehr schnell, dass er auf der Suche war. Wir haben während der Verkündigung für ihn gebetet und beim Aufruf ist er sehr schnell nach vorne gegangen, um sein Leben Jesus zu geben. Hinterher haben wir ihn noch mal getroffen und ihm ein NT in Portugiesisch geschenkt. Mittlerweile sind wir ganz gut ausgerüstet.

On the second night we moved to the beach of Botafogo. Approx. 5,000 people gathered. Reinhard Bonnke preached the Gospel of Jesus in power and many gave their lives to Jesus that night. Amongst others there was a young man, who constantly stayed close to us. We quickly realized that he was looking for the truth - so we prayed for him during the sermon and when Reinhard Bonnke made the altar call he quickly went to the front to give his life to Jesus. Before leaving the venue we met him again and gave him an NT in Portuguese. Meanwhile we are well-equipped.

Außerdem geschahen super Heilungen: Eine Frau ist seit 14 Jahren krebskrank und war im Rollstuhl. Sie stand aus dem Rollstuhl auf und konnte ohne Hilfe laufen. Das mit dem Krebs lässt sie checken. Eine Frau wurde von Allergien geheilt, eine andere von schrecklichen Schmerzen und ein kleiner Junge von einem Augenleiden, wodurch er nicht richtig sehen konnte. Als er mit seinem Vater auf der Bühne war, um Zeugnis zu geben, fragte ihn Reinhard Bonnke´s Co-Evangelist, Daniel Kolenda, ob er das Zeichen an dem gegenüberligenden Hochhaus lesen konnte. Ohne größere Schwierigkeiten las er Coca Cola!

There were also many wonderful healings: A woman had been sick of cancer for 14 years and was stuck to a wheelchair. She stood from her wheelchair and was able to walk without any help. She will now go to her doctor in order to check the cancer. Another lady was healed of her allergies, someone else was delivered from terrible pain and a little boy was healed from his eye condition, which held him from seeing properly. When he was on stage with his father to give testimony, Reinhard Bonnke´s co-evangelist, Daniel Kolenda, asked him if he could read the sign on the opposite house. Without much difficulty he read Coca Cola!

Gott ist so gut. Wir sind begeistert über alles, was wir hier in Rio gesehen und erlebt haben. Morgen geht´s für uns weiter nach Curitiba. Dort nehmen wir an einer Konferenz mit Reinhard Bonnke teil ... und mal sehen, was Gott dort so für uns hat!

God is so great and wonderful. We are excited about everything that we have seen happening in Rio. Tomorrow we are going to Curitiba and there we will partake in a conference with Reinhard Bonnke ... and we are looking forward to what God has for us there!
