The seminars "Living in the Spirit - learning from the fathers" brought a special benefit for our school body. Both speakers also spoke at the S.E.M. What a privilege ...
Los ging´s mit Wilhelm Bläsing. Bereits im Alter von 9 Jahren bekehrte er sich zu Jesus und hat als Christ einen Weltkrieg miterlebt. Er kannte noch den bekannten Evangelisten Wilhelm Busch, der ihn sehr geprägt hat. Eigentlich stammt Wilhelm aus Essen. Sein Studium hat ihn dann aber nach München verschlagen und dort ist er auch geblieben und war jahrzehntelang leitender Sekretär des dortigen CVJM. Wilhelm hat ein riesen Herz für junge Menschen. Das haben wir die ganze Zeit über zu spüren bekommen. In der S.E.M. hat er über Einheit, den Heiligen Geist und die Endzeit (Offenbarung) gelehrt. Seine Lehren und Referate haben unser tiefstes Inneres getroffen - und das nicht nur einmal! Super war, dass wir ihn während der Lehren unterbrechen konnten, wenn wir Fragen hatten. Die hat er in aller Ausführlichkeit und mit viel Geduld beantwortet ... und wir haben jede Menge gelernt!
Wilhelm Bläsing made the start. At the age of 9 he gave his life to Jesus and experienced World War II as a Christian. He was friends with Wilhelm Busch, a well-known evangelist, who impacted his life a great deal. Essen is the place where Wilhelm (Bläsing) originally came from, however, he moved to Munich in order to graduate as an engineer. Since he has remained there and for many decades he was the executive secretary of the YMCA. Wilhelm has a huge heart for young people, everybody got aware of that. He spoke to us about unity of the body of Christ, the Holy Spirit and the final days (Revelations). His teachings and presentations deeply touched our most inner being ... not only once! He asked us to interrupt his speeches for questions, and answered them patiently and in detail ... we definitely learnt a lot in these days!
Direkt nach dem Seminar war Sabine Ball bei uns. Sie hat sehr lange in den USA gelebt, war dort mit einem Millionär verheiratet und hat ein Leben im Luxus geführt. Nach ihrer Scheidung zog sie von Florida nach Kalifornien, gründete dort eine Hippie-Kommune, weil sie die jungen Leute von Drogen wegholen wollte. Jesus kannte sie nicht, doch sie sollte ihn kennen lernen! Im Alter von 46 Jahren bekehrte sie sich und dann ging ihr ohnehin schon abenteuerliches Leben erst so richtig los. 1993 kam sie zurück nach Deutschland, weil Gott zu ihr gesprochen hatte ... sie gründete den Stoffwechsel e.V., wo Kinder und Jugendliche, aber auch Erwachsene eine Zuflucht finden. Sie und ihr Team sind auf den Straßen Dresdens und im Stoffwechsel-Café zu finden und ihr ausgemachtes Ziel ist, so vielen wie nur möglich von Jesus zu erzählen.
Sabines Liebe zu Jesus, ihr Gehorsam und ihre Barmherzigkeit Menschen gegenüber haben uns tief berührt und schwer beeindruckt. Ständig erzählte sie von der Hoffnung, die sie für Menschen hat und auch nicht aufgibt. Ein super Vorbild der Barmherzigkeit! Und jetzt überlegen wir, wann wir einen Einsatz nach Dresden mit der S.E.M. machen werden. Wir freuen uns schon riesig drauf!
Immediately after the seminar, we welcomed Sabine Ball. She lived for many years in the US, got married to a millionaire and was in the lap of luxury. However, after her divorce she moved from Florida to California, where she started a hippie commune aiming to get young people off drugs. She didn't know Jesus then, but Jesus was about to turn her life upside down! At the age of 46 she gave her life to Jesus, and it was then that her already adventuresome life reached a new level. In 1993 she returned to Germany. God had spoken to her, and thus she went to Dresden and founded the Stoffwechsel e.V., were children and youngsters, as well as adults find refuge. She and her team can be found in the streets of Dresden or at the Stoffwechsel café, determined to introduce Jesus to as many people as possible.
Sabine's love to Jesus, her obedience towards God and mercy for people have deeply touched our hearts and impressed us. She didn't get tired of sharing of the hope she has for people, never giving up on them. What an example! We are now planning to go on an outreach to Dresden with the S.E.M. and are already looking forward to that!
